 Foraging & Enrichment Trays

These trays are essentially another way of providing enrichment for your parrot. They are designed to be changed, added too and totally pulled apart in the search of possible treats and goodies. Some of these items are not meant to last! Your parrot will pull them apart, play, tear and eat the contents which is exactly what they are designed for. Like all foraging enrichment tools, variety is the spice of life, so offering the tray for a couple of days and then removing it and replacing it with some other foraging options keeps your parrot entertained.

Foraging options are essential for your parrots overall mental health and exercise.

Foraging is defined as "the acquisition or search for food by hunting, fishing or gathering". Parrots spend up to 70% of their day searching and preparing their food. Lack of activity leads to boredom which then often results in self destructive behaviours like feather plucking. Parrots should work for their food! We recommend that you research your specific breed of parrot and by understanding how your parrot would gather food in the wild you can better simulate foraging options in the enclosure.

Wouldn’t it be great if you knew while you were at work, that your parrot is happily at work too, doing the type of job that he was born to do?

Offering foraging opportunities to your parrot doesn't need to be complicated. Toys and devices can be purchased at most pet stores or online; however, homemade ones can be just as effective and fun. Providing your housed parrot with essential foraging devices (bought or homemade) will keep them busy, stimulate their minds and challenge their skill. It's a win, win for you both.
